Eledrogen at RuTAG IIT Delhi Regional Workshop: Bridging Technology and Grassroots Needs

Date: 3rd May 2025
Location: Alwar, Rajasthan

Eledrogen was honored to be invited by RuTAG IIT Delhi to participate in its Regional Workshop held at Alwar, Rajasthan, alongside our valued NGO partners—KARTABYA Center for Social Innovation and Vernajyoti Educare. The workshop focused on advancing appropriate technology solutions for rural development and grassroots empowerment. Representing Eledrogen, Director Chandrani Sarkar emphasized a critical gap many NGOs face today:

“Access to updated technologies and pathways to commercialization remains a significant challenge for grassroots organizations. At Eledrogen, we are committed to bridge this gap by co-developing inclusive and scalable solutions in close collaboration with our NGO partners”

-Dr. Chandrani

The workshop fostered an open exchange of ideas, where our NGO partners shared pressing on-ground challenges.

Dr.Pravas Misra from KARTABYA shared insights into the irrigation difficulties faced in upland regions—an issue that could be mitigated through the deployment of solar or Eledrogen-powered hybrid pumping systems. He also emphasized the urgent need for mini cold storage facilities to reduce post-harvest losses and improve agricultural income in rural belts.

Mr. Sandip Kumar Das of VERNAJYOTI EDUCARE brought attention to the struggles of small and marginal tea growers in Darjeeling, proposing the development of a portable weathering unit. He further stressed the necessity for accessible and affordable solutions in the food processing sector, such as portable bottling units and real-time quality analyzers for orange juice production. Additionally, he called for a customized portable oven for large cardamom processing—an innovation aimed at resolving long-standing problems of smoke damage and uneven heating.

This meaningful exchange reaffirmed our shared commitment to create Community Facilitation Centres that support grassroots innovation, skill development, and access to markets. Through strategic collaboration, we aim to transform challenges into opportunities—enabling communities to thrive through decentralized, technology-driven solutions tailored to their needs.
